Chapter 5: I Could Eat a Cow!

The car parked right by where were standing. Me, Cat, Arissa, and Adrienne just stood there talking and ignoring the car.

Cat: *starts waving to the person in the car*
Arissa: *whispers* Caaaat! What are you doing?
Cat: What? It`s not like I`m waving to a stranger.
Arissa: Then who are you waving to?
Cat: Dustin!
Chanelle: WHAT?

Just then we all turn around and look at the person in the car. Just like she said, it WAS Dustin.

Cat: Hi Dustin!
Dustin: Hey
Chanelle: What are you doing here?
Dustin: We were just in the neighborhood.
Adrienne: We?

Pat, Kelly, Carnell, and Bryan step out of the car.

Patrick: Damn Dustin! You`re a crazy driver! [ slams the car door ]
Dustin: Yeah, well, atleast I KN0W how to drive!
Chanelle: So...what are you guys doing here?
Carnell: Came to visit you guys of course!
Bryan: Plus, we`re gonna be in town for a couple of weeks cuz we`re doing a concert here.
Chanelle: Oh, cool.
Kelly: And we`re gonna be going to school here for a while too.
Arissa: Oh for realz? Where?
Cat: Mills.
Chanelle: Our school?! Wait...how did you know?
Cat: Kellz called me last night. He told me about how they were comin to visit so I told them they should go to our school while they`re here. That`s why I had to go to school early today. I had to ask Mr. Philips [ the principal ] if they could shadow us tomorrow.
Arissa: Oo that`s gonna be so cool!
Adrienne: Hey, isn`t anybody gonna introduce me?
Chanelle: Lol sorry. Um, guys, this is my cuz Adrienne.

Chanelle: So where are you guys gonna be staying?
Dustin: Well, Chris said we could stay at your house since it`s big and all.
Chanelle: Yeah we got a couple of guest bedrooms but yall gotta share
Dustin: Aiight
Cat & Arissa: Well we gotta go now. Bye! See you tomorrow at school!

Dustin: So, you want us to drive you home since we`re all going to the same place?
Chanelle: Aiight. Thanx

We got in the car. Dustin and Kelly sat in the front and Me, Carnell, Pat, Bryan, and Adrienne sat in the back. Soon the car pulled up to our house:


Mom: Hi boys!
Pat: Thanx Mrs. B for letting us stay at your house
Mom: No problem. Where`s your mom? Is she coming later?
Carnell: She`s coming to visit later but I think she`s gonna be staying at a hotel.
Bryan: Yeah, she said she didn`t wanna wear out our welcome.
Mom: That`s nonsense! There`s enough room for all of you here! Well, you boys wanna come in?

Mom: Chanelle, show them to their rooms. Adrienne, you wanna help me out in the kitchen?
Adrienne: Alright Aunt Dee [ walks off ]

Chanelle: Alright well, Carnell and Bryan can share this room...and Pat and Kelly can share this room...Dustin, you can have this room.

Chanelle: Ok well you guys can get settled. Oh yeah, dinner`s in an hour.

I went to my room and I soon got another text message

Carnell: Hey!
Chanelle: Morning . Sup?
Carnell: You wanna walk to school together?

Chanelle: Ok

Mrs. Stappler: Quiet down class. We have some guests at our school today and I want you all to be on your best behavior.

Class was pretty boring...whenever I looked behind me, Devon would always wink at me or do somethin stupid. :rolleyes:

I walked over to Bryan and looked at the text message. It was...me? That didn`t make sense!

I quickly texted "NELL" again.

Chanelle: That was ME!
Bryan: What? Ok...so what does this mean? I thought you were texting "Nell".
Chanelle: Obviously "Nell" and Carnell are the same person. Omg...

Chanelle: That means I`ve been talking to Carnell this whole time! Not NELL!
Bryan: What are you gonna do? You gonna tell Carnell that you found out his lil secret?

We headed over to the guys who were busy playing games. Cat went over to Kelly and watched him shoot hoops for tickets while Arissa was helping Pat play that splat the spider game. I went and sat at a booth in the party area. Soon I saw Carnell walking toward me to join me.

Carnell: Something wrong?

Carnell: Chanelle? Hello? Why are you ignoring me?

I held up my cellphone and then put it back down.

Chanelle: Bryan had your cellphone earlier. When I went to text "Nell", the text message was sent to YOUR phone!

Chanelle: Okay, that`s not important. I can`t believe you lied to me!
Carnell: I`m sorry. I was plannin on telling you
Chanelle: Then why didn`t you?
Carnell: I was afraid you were gonna get mad at me....

After the games and the pizza, we all met up.

Bryan: Well, my mom rented a boat for the afterparty. We can eat the cake there and open presents. And then after that, we can dance!

Dustin: It`s not like one of those smelly fishermen boats. It`s like a yacht.

Bryan: Hey! Can somebody help me bring out the cake!

I looked back at everybody else sitting on the couch watching BET ignoring Lil B.

Chanelle: Lol. I`ll guess I`ll help.
Bryan: Thanx. The cake`s here in the kitchen
Chanelle: Okay

I walked inside the kitchen and saw the cake. It had a big logo of B5 on it and the word Happy Birthday Bryan spread across the cake in green icing.

Bryan: You can bring it out while I get the candles.
Chanelle: Okay.

I set the cake out on the table.

Patrick: Do I smell cake?

Arissa: You`re not full? You just ate 5 slices of pizza back at Chuckie Cheese!
Patrick: Imma growing boy!

Mrs. Breeding: Dustin, turn off the TV and get all the kids to come over here to sing Happy Birthday!

Mrs. Breeding: Can you put the candles on the cake while I get the matches?

Dustin starts singing while Pat and Kelly bust a beat.

Everybody joins in eventhough we`re hecka cheesin. Bryan starts dancing and soon Mrs. Breeding comes out with the matches.

I changed into my PJ shorts and into my tank top. I went downstairs for a glass of water before I went to bed. In the kitchen, I saw Kelly sitting on the kitchen counter.

Kelly: I got stuff on my mind
Chanelle: Like what?
Kelly: Cat found Aaliyah`s number in my jacket today. I don`t even know how it got in there! I think she slipped it in when she bumped into me.
Chanelle: Oo. So you`re in trouble huh?
Kelly: Yeah. Cat`s still mad at me but I told her there`s nothing going on between us.
Chanelle: You know where you should be doing right now?
Kelly: Where
Chanelle: At Cat`s place. You should talk to her. Maybe even bring a gift.

Chanelle: *yawn* Well I`m tired.

I walked back upstairs and got under the covers. Just then, I heard a knock on my door.

He walked in wearing boxers and a wife beater.

Chanelle: Well I WAS gonna go to sleep...

Carnell: What? I can`t visit you?
Chanelle: Lol naw it`s iight.
Carnell: Cool. Now move over!

He jumps on my bed and gets under the bed too.

Chanelle: Ahhh! You`re taking up all the room! [ tries to shove him over to the other side of the bed ]
Carnell: Psh whatever [ shoves me back ]
Chanelle: Hey! Lol

After we calmed down, he pulled out a pack of starbursts.

Chanelle: Oh my god! You carry packs of starburts around with you?
Carnell: Yeah! I`m hungry from all that shoving.
Chanelle: Lol Gimme one. PLEASE.
Carnell: Here.

He hands me an orange starburst and then unwraps his starburst and pops it in his mouth

Carnell: Hey, you know what would be cool? If you could take the wrapper off using your tongue.
Chanelle: Lol you`re weird. Who thinks like that!?
Carnell: Well, can YOU take the wrapper off using your tongue?
Chanelle: ....Actually, I can
Carnell: What?! Lemme see.
Chanelle: Okay...

I put the starburst in my mouth and then seconds later, the wrapper is off the starburst.

Chanelle: Ta da! Lol
Carnell: That was hot!
Chanelle: Lol Well I`m gonna go to sleep.
Carnell: Aiight.
Chanelle: .....
Carnell: What?
Chanelle: Aren`t you gonna go back to Y0UR room?
Carnell: Nah. Imma stay here tonight.
Chanelle: Lol aiight.
Carnell: Alright, night
Chanelle: Night

I turned around and smiled as he moved closer to me. I turned around and found Carnell`s arm wrapped around me. Then we both drifted off to sleep.

[ MEANWHiLE AT CAT`S PLACE ]

Just before I went to bed, I heard something hitting my window. I decided to ignore it until I heard two more taps. I walked over to the window and saw Kelly standing outside my house, throwing rocks at my window.

Cat: Kelly? [ opening the window ] What are you doing here?
Kelly: Can you come down here? I need to talk to you.
Cat: Okay. I`ll be there in a sec.

I put on my hoodie and run downstairs and open the front door. I run out to the front yard where Kelly was standing.

Cat: Okay, what do you have to tell me?

Dustin: Hey! What were you guys doing last night? You guys were talking and laughing so loud that I couldn`t go to sleep last night.
Bryan: And where were you Carnell? I was all alone in my room last night!
Carnell: :rolleyes: I juss slept in Chanelle`s room.
Dustin: Oh *raises his eyebrow*
Carnell: We didn`t do anything.

Just then Chanelle walks in the room.

Patrick: How did we end up at a chick flick?
Arissa: Because you love me...that`s why! Lol.

Patrick: Aiight. I`ll be back with the snacks.

Patrick: Hey baby. I`m back with your popcorn.
Arissa: Thanks.

Patrick leans in for a kiss but Arissa gets distracted after she sees Devon and Jessica slide into the seats two rows in front of them. She moves her head away from Pat and says,

Arissa: *whispers* Hey! That`s Devon and Jessica!

Pat groans and says,

Patrick: So...?
Arissa: What are THEY doing here? Together!
Patrick: I don`t know! Now can we get back to where we left off---?
Arissa: Yeah, hold on, I need to call Chanelle.
Patrick: Can`t you call her LATER? The movie`s about to start anyways.

We both left Carnell and Patrick and walked up to Cat.

Chanelle: Hi Cat!

Arissa: So...did you and Kelly make up?

Just then Kelly walks up and gives Cat a big hug and puts his arm around her.

Adrienne: Yeah, but the catch is...you can only go if you got a B or above on the next Math test.

Adrienne: Well you better get a tutor then
Chanelle: Ugh I know. You know any good tutors?

Khleo: Devon is tutoring math I think.

Khleo: Yeah. He may be stupid in all the other subjects but he`s pretty good in math. He`s in top honors for math.

Chanelle: Uh..I kind of need help--
Devon: Getting rid of Carnell? I`m already on it. *wink*

Devon: Then why are you here?
Chanelle: I just needed help with math!
Devon: Oh. So you want me to tutor you?

Devon: Iight then. I`ll meet you after school. My place.
Chanelle: Uh, no. The library.

I grab my backpack and head out the door. Just then, I feel Devon grab my arm.

Devon: Hey! I`m sorry! Can we start over?

Devon: Come on! Give me another chance!
